Filmmaker Hemanth Rao in his inimitable style responded to a fan who boasted about his favourite star’s film affecting the box-office performance of Agnyathavasi,  the Kannada film co-produced by him and directed by Janardhan Chikanna.

“With all due respect to you and the said film. If we start getting scared of other language actors and films in our own territory. We might as well call it a day and do something else. We've made a film for our audience, and I hope they find it interesting enough to check it out,” Hemanth said.

The filmmaker made this remark following a comment by one Lohith Rishi, who mockingly said that Agnyathavasi should not have been released alongside Tamil actor Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly

“This is why I told you repeatedly time and again not to clash with Ultimate Star Thala Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly Movie which is a Peak Fan Service Film Directed by Filmmaker Adhik Ravichandran who has delivered the Biggest Fanboy Sambhavam! (sic),” he wrote.

Agnyathavasi, a thriller  directed by Janardhan Chikanna and Good Bad Ugly directed by Adhik Ravichandran, featuring Ajith Kumar and Trisha released in theatres last week. While Good Bad Ugly released on April 10, Agnyathavasi released on the next day.

As of April 14, according to ticketing platform BookMyShow, Agnyathavasi was running in 30 theatres in Bengaluru, while Good Bad Ugly dominated with 90 screens.

Meanwhile, Agnyathavasi has been receiving unanimous appreciation from critics and audience alike. On the contrary, Good Bad Ugly despite negative reviews from critics, continues to dominate at the box-office.
