That Nivin Pauly will be seen playing the legendary Robin Hood style highwayman Kayamkulam Kochunni made it to the headlines some weeks ago. The star is preparing himself to play the role as it requires a lot of homework to get into the skin of the character. Reports say that he will be trained in the martial arts form Kalaripayattu and now we hear that he will be mastering horse riding as well for the role.
Speaking about Nivin Pauly’s role, Sanjay, who had penned the script of the film along with his brother Bobby, revealed that he is mastering horse riding as the star is expected to begin shooting for the film next month. Reports are that the shooting would commence in Udupi next month and before that the director wants Nivin to be well prepared.
On making Kayamkulam Kochunni when a film on the legendary highwayman has already been made in 1966, Sanjay has been quoted by the Times of India as saying, “The younger generation knows everything about western superheroes such as Batman and Superman and yet they are clueless about the legendary heroes who actually existed in Kerala. I think it originates from the thinking that the more you assimilate western knowledge, the more ‘international’ you become. Our Aithihyamala has several magnificent characters such as Perunthachan and our mission is to introduce these heroes to the youth.”
Sanjay went on to reveal that Sunny Wayne will be playing the Kalaripayattu expert in the film and he is also undergoing training in this martial art form. He had said, “Sunny plays a pivotal character named Keshavan, who is a Kalaripayattu expert.”
The film has Priyanka Thimmesh playing the female lead with Sarath Kumar in a pivotal role. Music composer Santhosh Narayanan will be aking his debut in Mollywood with this film.
