Looks like ace actor Mohanlal will be playing an underworld don in director Shaji Kailas’s next. The film was supposed to go on the floors in December this year but with Mohanlal busy with VA Shreekumar Menon’s Odiyan, the film has been postponed to February.
Though nothing much about the Shaji Kailas – Mohanlal film has been revealed, sources in tinsel town say that it could be a social thriller. And going what Shaji Kailas had said earlier, the film will have oodles of action sequences.
Shaji Kailas and Mohanlal first teamed up for Aaram Thamburan two decades ago in 1997. They then got to work in Narasimham, Thandavam, Natturajavu, Baba Kalyani, Alibhai, and Red Chillies. The last time they had worked together was in Red Chillies in 2009.
With this combo churning out hits together in the past, expectations about their upcoming film is much higher. It may be mentioned here that noted script writer and actor Renji Panicker is also associated with this project.
Shaji Kailas and Renji Panicker’s association also dates back to several years as they have come out with blockbuster hits such as Dr. Pasupathy, Thalasthanam, Sthalathe Pradhana Payyans, Ekalavyan. Mafia, Commissioner, and The King and the Commissioner. With some of the best in the film industry getting together for this film, fans just can’t wait to know more about it.
Mohanlal has had a busy time this year with his films - Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, 1971: Beyond Borders, Velipadinte Pusthakam, and Villain – releasing in quick succession. He is currently busy with the dark fantasy thriller, Odiyan, a period flick that is being directed by VA Shreekumar Menon. Made on a budget of Rs. 50 crores, this film is scheduled for release next year.
