Ever since Challenging Star Darshan’s 50th film Kurukshetra started to roll, there have been various speculations about the entire star cast. Being a period film with an ensemble of characters, expectations on who would bag the coveted roles like Bheeshma, Abhimanyu, and Dritarashtra began to surface. Well, it is now clear that veteran actor Ambareesh will be seen playing Bheeshma in Kurukshetra and Srinath will be seen as Dritarashtra. Nikhil Kumar will be doing the role of Abhimanyu in the film while television actor Danish Akther will be playing Bhima. There are also reports that Bollywood actor Sonu Sood will be seen as Arjuna.

Made on a budget of Rs 50 to 60 crores, Kurukshetra is produced by Muni Ratna under the banner KCN Movies and directed by Naganna. The film’s muhurat, which happened last month, turned out to be a grand affair with the Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddharamaiah gracing the occasion.

According to reports, the film’s shooting is happening at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad where elaborate sets have been erected. Sources say that Ambareesh and Srinath have joined the sets of the film and scenes involving them are being filmed right now.

Kurukshetra has an impressive line-up with Sneha playing Draupadi, Arjun Sarja playing Karna, Saikumar as Shakuni, P Ravishankar as Dushasana, Srinivasa Murthy as Dronacharya.

The film is adapted from Mahabharata’s Gadhayuddha by Ranna with screenplay and dialogues penned by JK Bharavi. V Harikrishna is scoring the music for this film with Jay Vincent cranking the camera and Jo Ni Harsha editing it.

The shooting of this epic film is happening at a breakneck speed as the filmmakers intend to release it for Sankaranth next year. Reports state that Kurukshetra would be out in both 2D and 3D formats.
