The first look of Tovino Thomas’s upcoming project And The Oscar Goes To has been released on Facebook by the film’s director Salim Ahamed.

In the movie, Tovino Thomas plays the role of a struggling filmmaker. Pairing up with him are Anu Sithara and an actor from abroad, whose name is not known yet. And The Oscar Goes To has a very talented technical crew with Bijibal roped in to score the music, Madhu Ambat for cinematography and Oscar winning sound engineer Resul Pookutty for sound mixing and designing. According to reports, a major portion of the film will be shot in the US and Canada and the locations have been earmarked for it.

Tovino Thomas is extremely busy with his film Theevandi gearing up for release on September 7th.

He is also busy shooting for the Prithviraj directorial Lucifer in which he gets to share screen space with Mohanlal, Vivek Oberoi, Indrajith and others.

He will soon be wrapping up the shooting of his portions in Lucifer and moving on to the sets of And the Oscar Goes To.

Salim Ahamed made his directorial debut with Adaminte Makan Abu in 2011 which did quite well at the box office and followed it with the Mammootty starrer Kunjananthante Kada. In 2015, he went on to direct Pathermari, a blockbuster hit, starring Mammootty and Jewel Mary.

The director has won the National Award twice, once for Best Feature Film – Adaminte Makan Abu and the next time when Pathemari won the award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam. Adaminte Makan Abu also won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Film and Best Screenplay.

Tovino Thomas has a number of films in different stages of production. His Oru Kuprasidha Payyan has reached the post production mode and he is currently busy with the shooting of Luca. The actor also has two Tamil movies – Ondraga and Maari 2 – lined up for release this year. Another project Chengezhi Nambiar is expected to go on the floors later this year.
