Pawan Kalyan’s Telugu blockbuster Attarintiki Daredi is being remade in Tamil with Simbu in the lead. With projects such as 2.0, Indian 2, Vada Chennai and Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, Lyca Productions on July 31st revealed that it has bought the Tamil remake rights of Attarintiki Daredi, written and directed by Trivikram.

Lyca took to Twitter make the announcement and thanked Trivikram for the opportunity. “We are very happy to announce that we have acquired the Tamil remake rights of the mega Telugu blockbuster Attarintiki Daredi! More exciting updates on this coming up.” Subsequently, it was announced that Sundar C would direct the yet-untitled project, which has completed its first schedule in Georgia.

Samantha Akkineni played the leading lady in the original and if the industry grapevine is anything to go by, Catherine Tresa has been roped in to play her part. Catherine recently completed shooting for Tamil film Neeya 2, which also stars Jai and Raai Laxmi.

It’s worth mentioning that Catherine had worked with Sundar C in his last film Kalakalappu 2. Also, Pranitha Subhash was the second leading lady in the original and her role is said to be bagged by Megha Akash, who is currently busy shooting for Rajinikanth’s Petta.

The makers shot the film’s introduction song and a couple of scenes in the Georgian schedule.  Released in 2013, Attarintiki Daredi is the last known blockbuster in Pawan Kalyan’s career. The story follows a grandson, played by Kalyan, who promises to his grandfather to help him reconcile his relationship with his estranged daughter.

Simbu, meanwhile, who was recently seen in Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, is expected to commence work in Venkat Prabhu’s political thriller Manaadu. Lyca Productions, on the other hands, is busy with the production of Suriya 37, which they’re bankrolling on a lavish budget. The film marks the third time collaboration of Suriya and KV Anand after Ayan and Maattraan.
