The News Minute| June 30, 2014| 06:30 pm ISTP&G, in its latest advertisement for Always- its product line for women, undertook a social experiment and asked different people what it meant to ‘run like a girl’ and ‘fight like a girl’. The experiment was conducted by Lauren Greenfield and the three-minute video is an eye opener. While the older women, men and boys ran in a stereotypically ‘girly’ fashion, the young girls who took part in the experiment had their own meaning of doing things like a girl. For most of them, running like a girl was just running. For some, it meant running as fast as you can and winning the race. Fighting like a girl was not about cat-fights but martial arts and throwing like a girl was about throwing with all of one’s might. The video beautifully depicts how gender attributes are constructed and how these young girls out there are ready to challenge them. The message to all the girls running like they want to- 'keep doing it, its working'!Watch the video here.
