Sometimes, a rumour or a speculation may reveal more than an official teaser. Xiaomi has released a teaser that doesn’t really give you much information on the model the company wants to promote. However, you can make some guesses and here is a construct on what the smartphone may be about.
The teaser video tries to convey that the phone will have a triple camera setup. Since many assumptions have to be made, it can be linked to another reveal by a Xiaomi executive in India that the company has plans to launch a new phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor which could be a 730 or 730G. If he was also talking about this device, which the company has put out, you have at least two specs here. The assumption of the triple camera setup is also due to the fact that the company is yet to include a model in the Indian market that has more than 2 cameras.
Now if one extends this assumption to pick from the Xiaomi models with 3 shooters, the Xiaomi Mi 9 and the Mi 9 SE come to mind. But the difficulty in pressing ahead with this argument is that these two phones don’t sport the processor in the 7-series that one thought this phone might be fitted with. The only possibility is the company is planning to launch a model already being sold in China or other regions and change the processor for the Indian market. Chinese phone makers have been known to do such tweaks.
Therefore, if an educated guess is to be made of the smartphone model being teased by Xiaomi ahead of a launch in India, it could be the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE. Wait for more reveals.
The Chinese major is in the meanwhile gearing up for a big event on May 13 in China where it plans to release a top-end phone with the latest Snapdragon 855 SoC, first for the company. The device is supposed to have an in-display fingerprint sensor as well.
