UiPath, the leader in enterprise RPA, kicked off the second edition of #PowerUpAutomation Hackathon Series in Bengaluru earlier this month. The #PowerUpAutomation Hackathon Series is aimed at building the next generation of software robots on UiPath Enterprise RPA platform to automate both repetitive and complex tasks in business processes. The hackathon that lasted for 24 hours saw 50+ teams and more than 150 developers present. The participating teams solved challenges across one of three tracks: enterprise, RPA in day-to-day life, and automation for social causes. The winners took home prizes worth US$12,000.

“India is one of the key countries poised to take over the RPA industry. And, we at UiPath believe in true democratization of RPA, enabling talent development, empowering citizen developers and building a strong global community ecosystem. Through the Academic Alliance, our #PowerUpAutomation hackathon series, local meetups and other programmes, we want to ensure 500,000 RPA experts come from India,” said Raghu Subramanian, President and CEO of UiPath India, in his inaugural keynote address.

Some of the key highlights were:

  • The Bengaluru edition saw four winners create solutions around quizzing, data manipulation, legal, HR and music.
  • The winners of the RPA for fun track, Onkar Nath Sharma, Saranya Kishore and Deepthi Shanmugam were from Tech Mahindra, who used a bot to create quizzes for recreation, education and fun.
  • The UST Global team who won the first prize in the Enterprise track consisted of Sudheer and Hima Bindu Nimmagadda. They created a new Awesome Query language for Custom activity on Data table manipulation in simple text using UiPath.
  • The second prize winners in the Enterprise track were the team from Heptagon Technologies with Sampath Kumar, Gopinath Kaliappan and Arivoli Tamilarasan, who created a solution that reduces unnecessary man force to check pending legal summons from court with the help of RPA bots.
  • Nandan K N, Parminder Bansal and Abith Velayudhan from Team vRobots emerged as winners in the RPA-for-a-Cause track.
  • The Volvo team who created a robot that will take instructions to search for a candidate, identify these candidates, detect fake profiles based on face recognition and even do a first round basic screening interview, grabbed a special jury prize.
  • Team Novi won the prize for the most innovative solution for creating a MusicalBot that will create new music based on the listeners’ mood.

UiPath will be hosting three more hackathons across the country in the coming months – NCR in July, Hyderabad in August, and Pune in September. There will be cash prizes worth US$12,000 for each of these hackathons as well. For more information about registration details, click here.
