

Former CEO of Infosys Vishal SiKka has been nominated to the board of Directors of Oracle. Sikka had worked with SAP for a long duration before he took the challenging assignment of heading Indian software major Infosys.
He resigned in in 2017 following a fall out with the founders of Infosys. He went to Silicon Valley and floated his own venture, Vianai Systems, which deals in artificial intelligence (AI). Sikka is credited with being an expert in the fields of AI and Machine Learning (ML).
Oracle has said Vishal Sikka’s induction into the company will help in gaining from his expertise in this field. Oracle Chairman and CTO Larry Ellison has separately commended Sikka as one of the world’s leading AI and Machine Learning experts.
It is in the area of modern cloud applications and technologies that Oracle would want to leverage the strengths Sikka brings to the table. Oracle's Gen2 Cloud Infrastructure, Autonomous Database and Applications come together in the Oracle Cloud and the company believes it is able to offer more value to its customers through its cloud computing products than the other players in the field.

I am very happy that he will be joining the Oracle Board,” Oracle CEO Safra Catz said in a statement.
Vishal Sikka, accepting the nomination to the board of Oracle has put out a statement appreciating the contribution made by Oracle with its technological offerings.

Today, Oracle is the only one of the big four cloud companies that offers both Enterprise Application Suites and Secure Infrastructure technologies in a single unified cloud.
