Apple Inc. has announced a series of price cuts on many of its older devices, which include the iPhones released last year and the older version of the Apple Watch, the Apple Watch Series 3.

The US technology major had released this year’s iPhone models and a new Apple Watch just last week. These were the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max, modifying the naming style of these smartphone models from the previous year where the Roman numeral X was used. It was claimed as a one-off occasion where the company had wanted to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the launch of its iPhone models. These price cuts are meant for the Indian market. Though the company did not find much success in selling its iPhone models in India for some time yielding the place to South Korea’s Samsung and Chinese Xiaomi, the iPhone XR appears to have done well leading the premium segment smartphone sales in the quarter April-June 2019. This must have prompted the company to reserve the highest price cut among the models released last year. The iPhone XR with 64GB storage that was being sold at Rs 76,900 can now be bought at Rs 49,900, a solid 35% drop. The 128GB variant of the iPhone XR can be had for Rs 54,900 now.

The other models, the iPhone XS (64GB) is now available at Rs 89,900 while the iPhone XS (256GB) can now be purchased at Rs 1,03,900 after the recent price drop. The price of the iPhone XS (64GB) used to be Rs 99,900 when it launched in the country in 2018.

Apple has brought down the prices of the older iPhone models too, like the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus. Apple iPhone 8 (64GB), which is the base model of that year, is now down to Rs 39,900. Similarly, the price of iPhone 8 Plus (64GB) has now dropped to Rs 49,900, very affordable for the Indian Apple /iPhone fan, you would say. Even the Apple iPhone 7 (32GB) has been included for a new price offer and can be had at Rs 29,900 while the phone’s 128GB variant is down to Rs 34,900.

Lastly, the Apple Watch Series 3, is now being offered at Rs 20,900 in India.

Apple is looking at the oncoming festive season in the country and wants to capitalise on it.

For the record, this year’s iPhone 11 will be available in India from September 27 in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB models, starting at Rs 64,900. The higher iPhone 11 Pro will cost Rs 99,900 and the iPhone 11 Pro Max will be priced at Rs 109,900.
