If you have ever wanted to pick up your food you ordered online yourself, you can now do so with Zomato. The FoodTech company has launched Zomato Pickup, a new feature through which users can place their order from Zomato with the added flexibility of going and picking it up from the restaurant themselves.

Zomato Pickup is currently live across 13 cities in India- Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Indore, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Nagpur and Vadodara. The company plans to expand it to more cities in the coming weeks.

Announcing the development, Mohit Gupta, CEO- Food Delivery, Zomato, said, “We touched the monthly order run rate of 21 million a few days ago and this past Sunday, we crossed over a million orders — our greatest delivery milestone so far. We’re growing at a very fast pace, and while doing so, we’re always looking for ways to enhance the user experience & solve problems related to food ordering for our users. Zomato is the first and the only app in the country offering the pickup option. With this feature, our users can now get food as quickly as in 10 minutes while experiencing the great convenience of ordering food online and delightful offers from the restaurants.”

Currently, 20,000 restaurants will be offering pickup orders, out of which 18,000 will be exclusive to Zomato.  Users opting for Zomato Pickup will be entitled to all the benefits they would usually qualify for, be it Zomato Piggybank, Treats or any other ongoing offer/discount.

How it works?

Users will have to click on the ‘pickup your order’ option, select the restaurant they wish to pick up their food from, place the order and get there on time to pick up the food.
