AP Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s close aide and Rajya Sabha MP V Vijayasai Reddy took to Twitter on Monday to mock media reports claiming that local farmers had approached Chandrababu Naidu to offer their land to build a new house.

Last week on Thursday night, the YSRCP-led state government sent a demolition notice to former AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu’s rented residence at Amaravati. The notice was issued stating that certain constructions on the bank of Krishna river violate environmental laws.

Tweeting about the claims that local farmers supporting TDP offered their own land to Naidu, Vijayasai Reddy said,

“I wonder on whose suggestion Babu has been summoning 300 people everyday to console him. The people who turn up have rehearsed a lot and are acting very well. They’re asking one of the wealthiest political leaders in the country to come stay in their homes if he doesn’t have one. If this is not drama, then what is it?”

Reddy also went on to mock the Praja Vedika, which had been demolished earlier last week. The Praja Vedika had been built by the previous TDP government and was used by Naidu for official purposes as well as to hold party meetings. CM Jagan had declared last week that the demolition of illegal structures on the banks of the river will begin on Wednesday by razing Praja Vedika.

“Lokesh, have you built the tin sheet shed called Praja Vedika with money from Heritage Company? You and your party members are very excited. Are you crying because it has been revealed that you swindled Rs 9 crore to build a temporary construction that doesn’t value even Rs 50 lakh. What is with these consolatory visits and tragic stories with hired people?”

He also hinted that Naidu must be worried whether the Lingamaneni estate will survive. Naidu’s residence in Undavalli was constructed by the Lingamaneni group, a construction firm with close ties to Naidu.

TDP MLC Buddha Venkanna responded to Reddy’s remarks in a similar tone, referring to the ‘Odarpu yatra’ that Jagan had taken up following his father Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s death to console the families of those who reportedly died of shock on hearing the news.

“Your great ‘leader’s’ son, the junior ‘leader’, is the brand ambassador for overaction in the name of odarpu (consolation). On your suggestion, he released a long list of people who died for his father. Aid was provided only to a few of these people. After losing in the 2014 elections, why did they not provide aid to the remaining people? Did they not die for his father?”

Venkanna went on to accuse Reddy of insulting the farmers by suggesting they had been paid to approach Naidu.

“Mr. Illegal Sai Reddy… you are a synonym for paid artist. You will have to pay the price for insulting the capital’s farmers by calling them paid artists”, Venkanna tweeted.
