The News Minute | January 23, 2015 | 8:40 am IST The YSR Congress announced on Thursday that it will not field a candidate for the Tirupati by-poll. The TDP reportedly called on YSR chief Jagan and requested him not to contest for the Tirupati elections, to which Jagan obliged.The seat fell vacant after TDP MLA M Venkataramana died of a heart attack in Chennai. The 67 year old was undergoing treatment for heart related ailmentsThe TDP was quick, in a bid to retain its Tirupati assembly seat declared Sugunamma, wife of late M Venkatarama as its candidate for the byelection due to be held on February 13.In what seems like the party, resorting to the sympathy factor, Naidu had also apparently made it clear to the few aspirants that wished to represent the party that the widow will be the candidate.This move by Jagan to not field a candidate seems like a move to pull in more sympathizers to the YSR Congress' cause, to strengthen its support by the next elections.TweetFollow @thenewsminute
