Soon after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu released his white paper, he was slammed by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and the BJP. The white paper was the first of ten papers on the implementation of various developmental projects in the state, and Naidu attacked PM Narendra Modi for not delivering on promises made to the state at the time of the state’s bifurcation.

Senior YSRCP leader Anam Ramanarayana Reddy lashed out at Naidu, and said that it was an exercise taken up by Naidu only to cover up his failure during the four years it was part of the NDA.

Speaking to reporters, Anam said, “The white paper and the subsequent ones to come can only be seen as a gimmick, as Chandrababu Naidu has been switching sides and changing tunes too often with elections approaching and his stock plummeting drastically".

Anam said that the YSRCP will give fitting replies to each of Naidu's white papers, which he claimed will be filled with all the data and details of corruption under the Naidu regime.

“Now he has been singing the Congress tune and has been constantly chanting the malfunctioning of EVMs which confirms that defeat is staring at him and he is scared of the ensuing elections,” a press release by the YSRCP said.

Anam said that Naidu's appeals to the people to elect 25 people to Parliament from the Telugu Desam Party in order to get Special Category Status (SCS) would not have any takers. “His appeal to give 25 MPs to get SCS would have no takers as he already have 20 MPs, including three whom he bought, and could not get the special status due to his flip-flop stance on the issue and people will not believe about his sincerity,” he said. 16 MLAs were elected from the TDP to the Lok Sabha in the 2014 general elections.

Andhra Pradesh BJP spokesperson Shyam Kishore J, speaking to TNM, lashed out at Naidu and said that he is trying to placate the people as his graph is dipping, and said that no central government has given funds to any state like the way BJP has given to residual Andhra Pradesh.

"Isn't Polavaram being done with the assistance of union government? Despite facing flak from Telangana, the BJP merged six mandals in Andhra Pradesh for Polavaram project,” he said. .

He further added that Naidu was insecure and was worried that he would lose the state.

"Naidu is deeply insecure about losing the state, which is why he is blaming the nexus between us and Jagan and that between Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, but people are not ready to get cheated this time.”

He stated that the BJP would announce to the people the facts about what all the Centre has given to state, and the corruption of TDP. “As many as 9 central institutes have started functioning in the state, and over Rs 1100 crores has been invested in the state, including in IIT Tirupati, which has happened for the first time in history.”
