The News Minute | June 7, 2014 |9:35 AM IST Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, is doing his best to prevent a shuffle or expansion of the Cabinet. But Oommen Chandy has already got a nod from the high command for going ahead with his plans. Chennithala will most probably meet the high command to urge the leadership against meddling with the present cabinet. The current cabinet has the most number of ministers from ‘I’ group, which Ramesh is also a part of. Reports suggest that the shuffle is aimed at the the re-induction of former Cinema Minister K B Ganesh Kumar, and in turn to correct the group imbalances in portfolios. CM gets to choose his ministers to make sure that the government gets a smooth five year term. Off late the smoothness has been affected by the Congress (B) group MLA Balakrishna Pillai's threat to "expose" other ministers if his son, Ganesh, was not made a minister. With the Congress in Kerala faring well in Lok Sabha polls, Chandy apparently has made the High command happy. Despite Chennithala's struggle, Chandy may still have the upper hand in the whole issue.
