The shooting of the Yash starrer KGF was wrapped up a few weeks ago and it is currently in the post-production mode. It is a very important film in the star’s career, more so because it will be released in five languages – Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi besides Kannada. This means the team needs a release date that would not clash with films from other languages.

Reports indicate that KGF may be out in theatres either for Dussehra or Deepavali this year but the filmmakers are keen on a Christmas release as many of Yash’s films, such as Mr and Mrs Ramachari and Masterpiece, released around that time turned out to be hits. Also, if it is a Christmas release that would mean that KGF would get ample time for promos.

Touted to be a high budget movie in Sandalwood, the period flick is directed by Prashanth Neel, who has also written the story, screenplay and dialogues. While Yash and Srinidhi Shetty play the lead pair in the movie, the rest of the star cast includes Achyuth Kumar, Nassar, Malavika Avinash, Anant Nag and Vasishta N Simha. The film will be narrated by Anant Nag.

Vijay Kiragandur is bankrolling the project under his banner Hombale Films. The technical team comprises music director Ravi Basrur, cinematographer Bhuvan Gowda and art director Shivakumar.

Fans can look forward to a retro number in which Tamannaah makes a special appearance. According to sources close to the team, Tamannaah was roped in for the song as the filmmakers felt that she would be the right choice considering the fact that she is highly popular in the south Indian film circuit. Filmed on Yash and Tamannaah, and choreographed by Jani master, the retro number is a reinvented version of the song ‘Jokae naanu balliya minchu’ from the 1970 Dr Rajkumar starrer Paropakari. Reports say that Tamannaah was paid a whopping Rs 50 lakh just for this performance.

Movie buffs will need to wait for an official word about the release of this magnum opus.
