Xiaomi has joined some of the other smartphone makers in adopting an Android Go model if one goes by a Redmi phone model sighted on certification sites.

Since these are directly submitted by the companies, the details cannot go wrong. The only difficulty is that the companies don’t reveal the exact model name on their applications and some monikers are used. In this case of the Xiaomi Redmi Android Go model, for example, the model number M1903C3GG appears on the certification sites in Russia, the US and Singapore. It is being predicted that this phone will be released soon as an Android Go with the latest Android Pie OS by Redmi (Xiaomi). The suggestion has come from Singapore, where it is mentioned as ‘Redmi Go’.

Some of the specifications that can be reported about this new phone are that the display size could be close to 6 inches, a processor that clocks a speed of 2.4GHz and the dimensions of the phone are 141mmx71mm in terms of the height and width with the thickness not specified. The display screen is expected to sport an aspect ratio of 18:9.

The OS, obviously, will be the Android Pie, version 9.0 but watered down to be Android Go. This version of the OS has been developed by Google to facilitate smartphone makers to offer their customers cheaper alternatives by fixing lower end processors and lower RAM but still enjoy the other features linked to the OS. Some applications may not work on these phones.

In this Redmi Android Go phone, you can expect 1GB or maximum 2GB RAM and 8GB or 16GB internal storage. In the Indian context, the price of this phone may be well below the Rs 10,000 mark. Other information such as release date etc, is still not known.
