While launching a new smartphone in India, Redmi 4, Xiaomi also unveiled a WiFi router, Mi Router 3C. This is the first time Xiaomi has launched a router in the Indian market.

Availability and price

The Mi Router 3C from Xiaomi will be sold at Rs 1, 199 and it can be purchased from Mi Home store in Bengaluru from May 20 onwards; from the company’s online store Mi.com from May 23 and from Flipkart and Amazon.in from June 8.

The new router from Xiaomi has a unique design in that it comes with a dedicated PCB circuit and has four antennas on the modem in place of the one or maximum two that one is used to seeing. The company explains that the provision of two antennas each for upload and download or for transmitting and receiving of signals adds to the overall area covered by the router and the strength of the connectivity within that expanded area. The four antennas are individually supported by PCB circuits.

The Mi Router 3C comes with an internal 64GB memory and can support up to 300Mbps Speed. In terms of the number of devices that can be connected, Xiaomi claims up to 64 devices, including 44 IoT devices can be connected to this router.

Xiaomi’s Mi Router 3C has a dedicated app called Mi Wi-Fi, which, when installed, can assist with the setting up of the router as well as in managing the environment while adding up devices to be connected. The router and the app combined have a lot of features, parental controls, guest password assigning and also monitoring the usage. If certain connected systems require higher bandwidth that can also be configured through the app. The app can be downloaded from both Apple Store and Play Store.
