When the whole smartphone crazy world is chasing phones of larger display sizes with every new launch, here’s ‘Jelly’ that is just 2.45 inches and could cause a stir or two in the smartphone market. The very fact that the makers of this tiny device, Unihertz, from Shangai have placed the concept of the device on Kickstarter for crowd funding and that it has already notched up around $180,000, it appears there is a market out there for such small sized phones as well.

In terms of the specifications, the phone’s dimensions read 3.6-inch tall and 1.7-inch wide and the screen resolution is 240x432. Jelly is being released in two versions, one with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage and the other with 2GB/16GB configuration. And for good measure there is a microSD slot too! That can take the storage up to 32GB. The processor is expected to be 1.1GHz quad-core and the OS in both the versions will be the Android Nougat 7.0.

The tiny size of the Jelly smartphone does not deter it sporting a decent 8MP camera in the rear and a 2MP sensor on the front for selfies. The battery will be 950mAh in size and the expectation is that it will last three days and a standby period of seven days. Sound exciting here.

The phone can accommodate two SIMs and most connectivity options and sensors one would find on any normal 5-inch smartphone can be found on the Jelly as well.

Though once fully launched the two versions of the smallest sized smartphones could be priced at $109 and $125 respectively there is a fabulous offer going now for shipments in August and one can book the phones for just $59 and $75. However, different reports quote different prices.

The Jelly could be quite handy for those who wish to tuck away their phones inside their coin pockets or for women carrying small coin wallets to the market and don’t fancy carrying huge phones.
