The News Minute| July 6, 2014| 12:05 pm IST Hyderabad: Around 80 workers employed with an American beverage company in Iraq have safely arrived in Hyderabad. The workers belong to the Adilabad and Karimnagar districts of Telangana. The Hindu reported that some of them were from Medak and Nizamabad. Arrangements are now being made to send them to their respective homes. The New Indian Express, in a report, quoted workers who complained about the ill-treatment meted out to them by their employers. “There is no way I am going back to Iraq”, one worker was quoted as saying. The workers also said that they used to hear the sound of firing close to where they lived. According to the report, the workers, who had contacted the Indian Embassy for help, have claimed that around 100 people are still stranded in Iraq. An IANS report, however, stated that more than 600 workers from Telangana were stranded there. The Telangana government had opened a helpline in the NRI cell to provide information about the workers and to provide assistance. With IANS
