Actor-director Raghava Lawrence, a week since the issue first cropped up, has announced that he would reconsider his decision to direct the Hindi remake of Kanchana with Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar reprising the role done by Raghava Lawrence in the original.

Titled Laxmmi Bomb, the film also stars  Kiara Advani. The first look of the film was released last Saturday. Following which, Lawrence took to Twitter to announce his exit from the project. Lawrence reportedly quoted that the release of the first look poster of the film was without his knowledge which had prompted him to step down.

He also added that he will still allow the producers to use his script as he respects Akshay. He also gave his best wishes to the cast and crew of the film. But, after a week the actor has announced that he would reconsider his decision only if makers give him the respect he deserves.

He had posted a statement in his Twitter handle: "I had tweeted about stepping out of 'Laxmmi Bomb' a few days back. Post my tweet, both Akshay Kumar sir's fans and my fans have been requesting me to do this film. I'm overwhelmed with their genuine love. But trust me, I'm equally upset for the past one week as you are."

Kanchana the second film in the horror franchise that began in 2007 with Muni was made on a budget of Rs 7 crores and collected Rs 20 crores at the box office. The film’s Telugu dubbed version was also released along with its Tamil version.

Following its immense box office success, Kanchana was remade in Kannada as Kalpana and released in 2012. The Kannada remake was directed by Ramanarayanan. It was also remade in Sinhala under the title Maya in Bengali as Mayabini.

Meanwhile, Lawrence's latest outing  Kanchana 3 of the Muni series pulled in nearly Rs 30 crores from the opening weekend in Tamil Nadu. The film which was distributed by Sun Pictures saw Lawrence played the lead role and starred Oviya and Vedhika as lead heroines.
