The principal secretary of the Commercial Tax and Registration Department, in a show-cause notice, had sought an explanation from Tamil Film Producers’ Council’s office bearers Vishal, Kathiresan, SS Durairaj and SR Prabhu, for alleged mismanagement of the Council’s funds, under sec 34-A of the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975.

This was in response to the dissenting producers leveling allegations against the current office bearers of the TFPC.

Speaking to The News Minute, JSK Satish had said the TFPC office bearers, Vishal, Kathiresan, SS Durairaj and SR Prabhu have sent him and two others a legal notice alleging that he and his supporters have been defaming them and sought compensation.

In the legal notice sent to JSK Satish, former secretary of the TFPC Radha Krishnan and Vadivelu, the principal office bearers have sought compensation to the tune of Rs 1 Crore for the Council and Rs 50 lakhs each to the four members.

Satish said, “Vishal and team claim that all the allegations leveled against them were false and was made with the intention of stopping the TFPC from performing its duty.”

He further added that Vishal and others had said that even if one allegation against them is proved, they will bow their heads in acceptance while the Society of Registrars had recently investigated the matter and proved all the allegations to be true.

“The Under Secretary to the government issued a show-cause notice on how the money was handled, why there was a change in the council’s office, non- maintenance of the minutes’ book, why there was no general body meeting for two years, and also questioned why a SO should not be appointed? All this proves that the allegations are true,” he pointed out.

In another allegation regarding SS Durairaj, the secretary of the TFPC, Satish said that he is not eligible for the post as he did not make movies for the past 10 years whereas only producers making films in the last five years are eligible for the post. Vishal offered him the post based on caste and community, he alleged.

JSK Satish revealed that he and his team will proceed legally against this defamation suit and in the process also get back the fixed deposit amount, mishandled by the office bearers.
