Darshan will soon be starring in the Kannada movie directed by Tharun Sudhir titled Robert, in which he will be seen playing the title role. The groundwork for this project has begun and the team is roping in other actors to play pivotal roles in the film. Reports indicate that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been approached to play the female lead in this flick. Source in the know say that the role requires the heroine to be fluent in Hindi and Aishwarya would suit the role well. However, there is no confirmation that the actor has signed on the dotted line.

Aishwarya Rai made her acting debut with the 1997 Tamil movie Iruvar which was directed by Mani Ratnam. In her career spanning well over two decades, she has acted in different languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, English and Bengali. Incidentally, she hails from Mangaluru but Aishwarya hasn’t acted in a Kannada film till date. Will she make her debut in Sandalwood with Darshan’s Robert? We will have to wait for an official announcement. On the other hand, there is a buzz that Rakul Preet Singh is also in talks for the role.

Darshan has two other films in the pipeline – Kurukshetra and Odeya, which are both in the post-production stage. Kurukshetra is a mythological that is directed by Naganna and produced by Muniratna. Odeya is directed by MD Sridhar and bankrolled by Darshan’s close friend Sandesh Nagraj under the banner Sandesh Productions. Raghavi Thimmayya plays the female lead in this flick.

Darshan’s last film release was Yajamana, which hit the marquee in March. Rashmika Mandanna played his heroine in it with Tanya Hope as the other heroine. Dhananjay, Thakur Anoop Singh and Devaraj were in the supporting roles. Bankrolled by Shylaja Nag and B Suresha, Yajamana was directed by Pon Kumaran. V Hari Krishna not only composed the tunes for Yajamana but is also credited as its creative head for penning the story along with director Pon Kumaran.
