Actor-filmmaker Dhanush has an exciting year ahead. After beginning the year with a bang with the success of his directorial debut, Pa Paandi, he currently awaits the release of VIP 2, slated to release this week in cinemas.
He has recently completed work on his Hollywood project The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakhir, and also has projects such as Enai Noki Paayum Thota, Vada Chennai trilogy and a Hindi project with Aanand L Rai in his kitty. The industry grapevine is that he might star in the Tamil remake of Ranbir Kapoor’s Barfi, which he might direct as well. While there’s been no confirmation regarding the reports, sources close to him have confirmed the development.
In several of his interviews, Dhanush has confessed his love for the film and that he would love to play such challenging characters. Apparently, he might do the film anyways but the project will only roll in the second half of next year as he has a very busy line up. It would be really interesting to see how this project shapes up if at all it gets made in the first place. An official announcement is awaited from Dhanush’s end.
Dhanush is busy promoting VIP 2, which is a sequel to the highly successful first part which released in 2014. Directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth, the film marks the comeback of Kajol to Kollywood after two decades. Last seen in Arvind Swami starrer Minsara Kanavu, she plays a suave, conniving businesswoman in the film, which also features Amala Paul, Vivekh and Samuthirakani. In the film, Kajol and Dhanush will face off and their face-off will be the biggest highlight among other things such as Dhanush’s screen presence and music.
