The second trailer of Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam 2 was released on Saturday’s episode of reality TV show Bigg Boss 2 Tamil. The one-minute trailer begins with a short reminder of what happened thus far in Vishwaroopam 1.
“Captain Wisam Ahmad Kashmiri has failed in his duty, both as an officer and a gentleman,” reads out an official to Kamal Haasan. The trailer also includes a stunt sequence with a fearless Andrea wearing a hijab and kicking a man.
Pooja Kumar, who played Kamal’s wife in the first part, reprises her role in the sequel as well. She’s seen asking the same question: “Who are you?” to which the answer comes towards the end of the trailer – “A soldier turned espionage agent.”
“If only we stopped fighting each other and politicians sat down to honestly discuss peace with each other, terrorism will end,” explains Kamal in the trailer. There are also glimpses of a small kid performing Kathak.
The film, which is set to release on August 10, is the sequel to Vishwaroopam which released in 2013 amidst a lot of controversy. The film faced opposition from Muslim groups which claimed that it should be banned because it portrays Muslims as terrorists.
Vishwaroopam 2’s first trailer was released on June 11. The Tamil version was released by the actor’s daughter Shruti Haasan, while the Hindi version was released by Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan. Telugu star Jr NTR launched the Telugu version.
Written, directed and co-produced by Kamal Haasan, the film’s cinematography is handled by Sanu Varghese and the music composer is Gibran.
In addition to Vishwaroopam 2, Kamal Haasan also has Sabash Naidu and Indian 2, which are in different stages of production. His production house, Raj Kamal Films, also has a film signed up with Vikram and Akshara Haasan in the lead.
