The Tamil film Asuran, starring award-winning actor Dhanush in the lead role, is all set to be remade in Telugu. The film’s box office success and critical acclaim prompted the filmmakers to consider a remake and the ball has been set in motion for it.
Venkatesh will be reprising the role done by Dhanush in original and the film will be bankrolled by Suresh Babu under his banner. Sources in the know say that the producers have approached Hanu Raghavapudi to direct the remake and discussions regarding the remake are in progress. An official announcement is expected to be made once the details are finalised.
The critically acclaimed, award-winning director Vettrimaran directed Asuran. It had Dhanush playing the lead role alongside Malayalam actor Manju Warrier, in her debut film in Tamil film. The technical crew of the film included GV Prakash Kumar for music, Velraj for cinematography and Vivek Harshan for editing. The film was bankrolled by Kalaipuli S Dhanu under his banner V Creations. The star cast also has director Balaji Shaktivel playing the baddie. Asuran was reportedly adapted from the novel titled Vekkai.
Venkatesh, meanwhile, is busy with his upcoming release, Venky Mama. The film is bankrolled jointly by Suresh Productions and Blue Planet Entertainment on a very big budget with Bobby aka KS Ravindra wielding the megaphone. Anup Rubens has been roped in to compose tunes for Venky Mama and Prasad Murella is cranking the camera. Raashi Khanna and Payal Rajput have been roped in to play the female leads in this flick and will be paired up with Naga Chaitanya and Venkatesh respectively. The shooting of Venky Mama will go on for some more days after which the post-production will begin. We hear that the film will be hitting the marquee early next year.
