Mammootty is busy with a slew of films in various stages of production. The star’s Masterpiece is gearing up for release this Christmas and it is currently in the post production mode. This Ajai Vasudev directorial will be out at the theatres on December 21st.

And then, he has films like Streetlights, Uncle, Peranbu, and Parole as well. A few weeks ago, there was a news that Mammootty has been roped in to play the male lead in the period flick titled Mamankam. To be directed by Sajeev Pillai, who will be making his debut as director with this movie, it is about the festival of the warriors that was held in the 17th century.

The festival, celebrated once in 12 years on the coast of the Bharatapuzha, saw warriors from different parts of the country competing to establish their power. The film would be the story of one such warrior played by Mammootty and his soldiers, we hear. Enquiries on when this film would go on to the floors revealed that the director is planning to get it on to the floors in February but the exact date has not been finalized yet.

Further, the director is in the process of finalizing the rest of the star cast and the film's commencement would depend on the call sheet of the other stars to be cast as well. Meanwhile, the team is looking to zero in on the shooting locations for Mamankam and has decided that Mangaluru would be the main location to shoot a major portion of the film. With Mammootty getting to star in a historical after a long gap, his fans just can’t wait to see him in his new get up.
