What if men were glared at if their vest peeked out of their shirt? What if men were told that they shouldn’t be swearing or sitting with their legs wide open?

And what if men were showing far too much skin in their shorts and sleeveless shirt, to be stepping out of the house?

For many women reading this, replace the vest with a bra strap in the first instance, and you’ve got the mirror image of their daily lives. And it’s not even funny how ridiculous this all pervasive policing of women’s bodies and behaviours is.

To demonstrate the same, enter the actors from the much-awaited Lipstick Under My Burkha with their video, ‘If men were treated like women”. The places are swapped in this video as the women police, pick, and comment on the man in the video, to give you a glimpse of a woman’s average day.

And the result is some tongue-in-cheek, impactful humour which deliciously brings out the hypocrisy of the society towards women.

The film has come under quite a bit of controversy, what with the CBFC initially stalling its release for being ‘lady oriented’ and having ‘audio pornography’, among other *cough* ridiculous *cough* reasons.

Featuring acclaimed actors like Ratna Pathak Shah, Konkona Sen Sharma, Aahana Kumra, Plabita Borthakur and Shashank Arora, Lipstick Under My Burkha will hit the screens on July 21.
