It doesn't matter what part of India you are from because at this point, chances are that you know the first few lyrics of Neruppu Da by heart. And some of us may have no idea what they mean, the song is as catchy as it can be.

And what do you get if you mix “Kabali” fever with the bated breath of talented musicians? Fabulous cover versions.

Aara and Aathy, sisters from Canada who put their veena prowess to the test with covers, decided to do a ‘Nerrupu Da’ opening theme cover. The result? It's now easier to imagine a woman in a madisaar walking to it with Tamil superstar Rajnikanth's swagger.

Aara and Aathy's mother were influenced by traditional carnatic music very early on. They started learning the Veena when they were five and seven respectively.

Their trainers encouraged them to experiment with the instrument and reinterpret songs. They began covering popular cinema songs as well as set up the YouTube channel VeenaThambaps. Check it out to listen to your favourite tunes with a twist.

For the electronica lovers, there's also an 8 Bit remix cover version of Nerrupu Da from 8Bit Universe. Dedicated as a tribute to Arunraja Kamaraj, the lyricist and singer of the hit, the cover is reminiscent of classic chiptune NES 8-bit Nintendo songs.

If you ever get tired of listening to the original on loop, you know where to go now.
