Vijay’s Bigil will be his first release of the year. The star was last seen on the big screens in Sarkar that released for Deepavali last year. With just a couple of weeks left for the film's release, the makers put out the film’s trailer on Saturday.

The trailer has plenty of action sequences and shows Vijay in his multiple avatars - as a young football coach, an older man who is proficient with the aruval, and another sophisticated young guy. The wedding sequence from the Bigil poster also features in the trailer, and Nayanthara is seen telling Vijay that he seems to have forgotten his Kadhalakku Mariyaadhai days.

The trailer is 'dedicated to all women' and has shots of the women football players working hard to improve their game. It ends with Vijay counting 'Ek dho theen' till 10 in Hindi and waiting for a car to explode outside a police station. His fans are sure to be delighted by how he says 'Verithanam' in the trailer.

Also starring Nayanthara, Jackie Shroff, Kathir, Daniel Balaji, Yogi Babu, Sai Dheena, Vivek, Anandraj amongst others, Bigil marks Vijay third time union with director Atlee. Theri and Mersal were their two previous collaborations.

Produced by AGS Entertainments, Bigil has music by AR Rahman. Bigil marks the third consecutive collaboration between AR Rahman and Vijay after Mersal and Sarkar. The film’s audio launch was recently held in Chennai in which Vijay touched upon several topics from online fan wars waged in his name to the #PrayForNesamani viral hashtag. The actor advised his fans against waging online hashtag wars, requesting them instead to use the power of hashtags for a social cause.

Set in the backdrop of a women’s football team, Vijay allegedly went through training to fit into his role as a football coach. The film’s first-look poster that showed Vijay in two different looks gained massive response from the star’s fans. The makers of Bigil have been regularly updating their social media handles with the film’s progress to keep the fans satisfied, ever since the project was first announced almost a year ago in November 2018.

Meanwhile, updates have already started coming in on Vijay’s next tenetatively titled Thalapathy 64 with director Lokesh Kanagaraj. This film also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Malavika Mohanan, Antony Varghese and Shantnu in lead roles.
