Remember the funny scene from Rajinikanth’s 1981 comedy Thillu Mullu in which his character Indiran lies to his boss to go watch a football match? If you’ve got a better memory, you might remember the 'Baila' tune that was played during this scene.

Hoping to recreate this mood in Rajinikanth’s upcoming Petta, music director Anirudh shares in a sneak-peek clip that the next song from the film has been inspired by this particular scene from the star’s cult classic.

In the one-minute video, Anirudh is heard saying, “This is Thalaivar Baila - ‘Ullaallaa’. We must’ve enjoyed his naughtiness in the Thillu Mullu football stadium scene. So we thought it would be fun to have such a number in Petta. Hope you guys enjoy 'Ullaallaa'.”

The video shows Anirudh dancing along with two other artistes to a catchy tune while Rajinikanth’s scene from the old film is juxtaposed. The video ends with Thenga Sreenivasan’s dialogue from Thillu Mullu which he says before the scene actually begins - “If you make him suffer, I’ll come all the way to Thiruttani to scold you."

The film’s first single, ‘Marana Mass’, was released earlier this week. Just hours before the song’s release, the makers had put out a sneak-peek of its making, creating a buzz for the song.

A peppy dance number, the song begins with Anirudh’s voice followed by SP Balasubrahmanyam’s. Interestingly, SPB has a very small portion in this song. Also, the film’s theme music that we heard in the motion poster features in ‘Marana Mass’ as well.

Produced by Sun Pictures, Petta is being directed by Karthik Subbaraj of Pizza fame. The film also stars Bobby Simha, Vijay Sethupathi, Sasikumar, Simran, Trisha, Malayalam actor Manikandan R Achari and Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles.

The film has had two character reveals so far - Vijay Sethupathi as Jithu and Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Singaar Singh. Petta will release for Pongal 2019.
