The 2-minute trailer of the upcoming Sudeep starrer Pailwaan was launched on Thursday and is going viral online. From the trailer, we gather that Sudeep plays a wrestler and Suniel Shetty his coach. The trailer begins in the wrestling arena with the voiceover: “One who fights to prove his strength is a rowdy; one who fights for a strong cause is a warrior.” Then, Suniel Shetty is seen reasoning with Sudeep to stop getting into petty fights and shift his focus to professional wrestling.

Produced and directed by S Krishna, Pailwaan marks his collaboration for the second time with Sudeep after the massive success of Hebbuli last year. Incidentally, Krishna’s wife Swapna will be making her debut as a producer with Pailwaan by making it under the banner RRR Productions. Being Sudeep’s first-ever sports drama, the actor underwent a lot of training to learn the nuances of the martial arts. The actor flew down to Thailand where he underwent rigorous training under the guidance of some experts. Karunakar is cranking the camera for this film.

The film caught the attention of film buffs with its teaser some time ago. The massive response for the teaser prompted the filmmakers to release the film’s Hindi version in the theatres. Earlier, the plan was to release it on digital platforms and on YouTube but now it will be out in theatres, thanks to the immense popularity Sudeep enjoys across the country. Pailwaan is expected to be out in seven languages – Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Bhojpuri and Marathi.

Reports say that the filmmakers will soon be sealing a deal with distributors in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi film industries, targeting approximately 2,500 screens worldwide. Sources in the know say that three production houses are in the fray to bag the Hindi theatrical rights of this film and an official word is expected soon. Reports indicate that all versions of the film will hit the marquee on September 12.
