The sneak peek of the much anticipated Vijay Sethupathi starrer Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren was released on Monday. The 1 minute 33 second video shows a conversation between Vijay Sethupathi, dressed like a local don, and his accomplices.
We see a serious VS speaking to his accomplices after they confess that they failed to find the name 'Abhayalakshmi' in a register.
“You don’t use your brain, why can’t you let the other person use theirs?” he asks the dumber accomplice.
At the end of the 1 and a half minute conversation, we see a frustrated Vijay Sethupathi, whacking the accomplice with the said register and leaving from there.;
The mock-seriousness of the situation hints that the prime focus of the film will be comedy.
Directed by Arumuga Kumar, ONNPS, which is also his debut project, is set to release on Friday and will be a “rib-tickling comedy entertainer” according to the director.
"This is neither an experimental film nor a regular comedy. We have tried concocting a variety of sub-genres in comedy to deliver a wholesome entertainer. The film's backbone is the comedy, but the tracks will be sensible and not appear cliched. It's going to be a multi-genre entertainer," Arumuga Kumar said in an interview.
The film has two contrasting settings – a tribal village in Andhra Pradesh and a college in Chennai. Vijay Sethupathi who plays Yaman, the tribal chieftain (no connection to mythological character) will sport 8 different looks in the film.
“We didn't decide to have eight looks for Vijay Sethupathi as a marketing gimmick. The story demanded it, and we took up the challenge. But, it's nothing serious as some of you can imagine,” said the director in the same interview.
ONNPS is produced by 7C Entertainment and Amma Narayana Productions and stars Gautham Karthik, Gayathrie and Niharika Konidela, apart from Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles.
Apart from ONNPS, Sethupathi is involved in a host of exciting projects such as Seethakathi (his 25th film), Super Deluxe with Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil, 96 with actor Trisha as his co-star, Junga, the magnum-opus Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy which will mark his entry into Telugu cinema. He has also signed up for a Mani Ratnam project which is yet to be titled.
