The official teaser of Monster starring SJ Suryah, Karunakaran, and Priya Bhavani Shankar in the lead was released on May 2. Directed by Nelson Venkatesan of Oru Naal Koothu fame, the film is a comedy entertainer and the teaser tells us how.
While we’ve seen Sudeep driven mad by a fly in the 2012 bilingual fantasy Eega directed by SS Rajamouli, in Monster SJ Suryah’s character has an unusual obsession with rats, one rat to be specific. The one-minute teaser promises for a riot fest with SJ Suryah and Karunakaran pitted against the “most intelligent monster” as the video puts it.
Hollywood films like Stuart Little and Ratatouille have already played with the idea of an intelligent mouse, and with Kollywood trying its hand, audiences are excited to see its results. The film is scheduled to release this summer.
The film has music by Justin Prabhakaran with Gokul Benoy for cinematography and VJ Sabu Joseph for editing. Siva Shankar has been roped in for Art direction with stunts by Sudesh.
Produced by Potential Studios, the film has been written and directed by Nelson Venkatesan.

Last seen playing the villain in Atlee’s Mersal, SJ Suryah has quite a number of films slated for release this year. While he has two delayed projects – Selvaraghavan’s goth thriller Nenjam Marappadhillai, and Ashwin Saravanan’s romantic thriller Iravaakaalam – his Uyarndha Manithan with Amitabh Bachchan is being filmed at present.
The Tamil-Hindi bilingual will be called Tera Yaar Hoon Main in Hindi. The film is being directed by Thamizhvannan of Kalvanin Kadhali fame and its first look poster was unveiled by Superstar Rajinikanth.
Priya Bhavani Shankar who was last seen in Karthi’s Kadai Kutty Singham, also has Kuruthi Attam with Atharva, and Vaan with Dulquer Salmaan, in the making.
