Basking in the success of his recent release, Namma Veetu Pillai, Sivakarthikeyan is currently busy with Hero, directed by PS Mithran who made a big splash last year with Vishal’s Irumbu Thirai.

The much-awaited teaser of the film was released on Thursday by Bollywood star Salman Khan. Salman tweeted saying, “What a stylish teaser! Very happy to launch @kjr_studios #HeroTeaser @siva_kartikeyan All the best to u and team #Hero @Psmithran @AbhayDeol @akarjunofficial @george_dop”

Set against the backdrop of an educational institution with shots of a career fair and student suicide, the 1.32 min teaser introduces the main characters – played by Sivakarthikeyan, Abhay Deol and Arjun. While Abhay Deol, looking sharp in a suit, says ‘Mind your business – this is what our education system teaches’, Arjun is seen telling Sivakarthikeyan, ‘This system cannot be changed by a common man, we need a hero’. This is followed by shots of a costume and Sivakarthikeyan in a fight sequence, ending with a slow shot focusing on Sivakarthikeyan who is seen wearing a mask and holding some kind of fighting implement.

The film is speculated to be a superhero film. Hero will have two heroines, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Ivana, as the female leads while Abhay Deol will be seen playing the baddie. Arjun, Vivek and Robo Shankar have been roped in to play pivotal roles. RD Raja and KJR Studios are bankrolling this venture. The film has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja while George C Williams and Ruben are in charge of the film’s cinematography and editing respectively. The film will hit the screens on December 20.

Sivakarthikeyan’s recent release Namma Veetu Pillai was a rural comedy directed by Pandiraj and bankrolled by Sun Pictures. The film, an action comedy that revolved around a brother-sister relationship, opened to positive reviews from critics and audiences alike giving a much-needed break for the actor following his back-to-back debacle at the box-office for his last releases – Vellaikaran, Seema Raja and Mr Local.

Sivakarthikeyan has pinned high hopes on his upcoming projects. He has a yet-untitled project with Vignesh Shivn and if everything goes as planned, this film will start rolling later this year. Currently dubbed as SK 17, it was recently reported that Rashmika Mandanna is in talks for the project which will feature two heroines. To be produced by Lyca Productions, the film will mark the first-time collaboration of Sivakarthikeyan and Vignesh Shivn. The actor also has the yet-untitled science fiction film with Ravi Kumar. This film also stars Rakul Preet Singh as an astronomer.
