The teaser of Athiran, the Fahadh Faasil and Sai Pallavi film which is due to hit the screens on April 12 for Vishu, was released on Wednesday. And it is super scary!

The teaser begins with Fahadh’s voice-over saying, “Who said autism is an illness? It’s just a developmental disorder.” He then walks into a cell where Sai Pallavi’s character, Nitya, is locked up.

Dressed in white, her long hair streaming in front of her, Sai Pallavi looks absolutely frightening. She wears chains on her legs and walks in a strange manner. From the looks of it, there's clearly more going on here than what is presumed to be a developmental disorder.

When Fahadh’s character calls out to her, she throws him a scary expression and slaps him. Directed by debutant Vivek, the film has been scripted by Ee.Ma,Yau fame PF Mathews. Athiran’s score is by Ghibran and the cinematography is by Anu Moothedath.

Sai Pallavi has previously acted in two Malayalam films, Premam and Kali. While the first was a light-hearted romantic flick, the second was a thriller. Athiran is the first time that the actor is playing such a role, and it’s sure to shock audiences who first got to know her as ‘Malar Miss’.

Fahadh was last seen in Malayalam cinema in the critically acclaimed Kumbalangi Nights where he played the antagonist. The film fetched rave reviews and also did well at the box office. His previous film Njan Prakashan was also well-received.

This is the first time that Fahadh and Sai Pallavi are sharing screen space. Sai Pallavi had posted her Vishu photos a few days ago and the pictures immediately went viral. But one has to say that those images gave us no clue about her scary role in Athiran!
