Ratsasan, the 2018 Tamil crime thriller which had actor Vishnu Vishal and Amala Paul playing the lead roles, is now being remade into Telugu. With director Ramesh Verma Penmetsa helming the film, the remake has Bellamkonda Srinivas and Anupama Parameswaran as the main protagonists. Titled Rakshasudu, the movie is all set to hit theatres in July.

The makers of Rakshasudu released the teaser of the movie on May 31. From the minute long teaser, the Telugu version seems to be a faithful remake of the original. With only a few Tollywood actors reprising roles from the Tamil version, director Ramesh has kept most of the star cast intact. The Telugu version too has music by Ghibran, whose work was appreciated by one and all, while the lyrics have been penned by Sri Mani. Produced by A Studios, Abhishek Pictures is handling the worldwide release of the movie.

While the initial buzz was that Sudheer Babu may reprise the role of Vishnu Vishal in the Telugu remake, he opted out of the project, with Bellamkonda Srinivas replacing the actor.

Tollywood this year is on a spree of churning out remakes. Apart from Vijay Deverakonda’s Dear Comrade, the Telugu audience is also eagerly awaiting Dil Raju’s remake of the hit Tamil movie 96, with Samantha and Sharwanand playing the lead roles.

Ratsasan, a serial-killer thriller, became the talk of the town ever since its release as it turned out to be a surprise hit, leaving everybody in the trade quite stunned. A film about a police officer’s chase to catch a serial killer, Ratsasan worked big time with multiplex audiences and is now all set to be remade in Kannada too.

Directed by Ramkumar of Mundasupatti fame, Ratsasan also had Suzane George, Sanjay, Kaali Venkat, Ramdoss and Kumar in supporting roles.
