The makers of Dhanush’s upcoming film Karnan released the third single from the movie, titled ‘Thattaan Thattaan’, on Thursday. The song is set to tune by Santhosh Narayan, with vocals by Dhanush and Meenakshi Ilayaraja and lyrics penned by Yugabharathi. The song features visuals of Dhanush at the recording studio, as well as the rural setting in which the film takes place.

At the beginning of the video, the theme of the song is said to be ‘Draupathiyin Muttham’ (Draupathi’s kiss). The song starts with the lines, “Maaman Karnanai thedi malai uchiyil eri nindral Draupathi (Draupathi climbed atop the hill searching for Karnan)/ Ini entha neramum mazhai peyum endru aatril erangi nindran Yaman thatha (Yaman [a Hindu mythological figure] was waiting at the lake knowing that rain might strike soon)/ Mazhaikaga kaathiruntha kuthairi siruvanin siripil thodangiyathu mazhayum paadalum (As the young boy eagerly waited for rain and smiled, it started raining, followed by a song). It is likely that the makers chose to start the song with the poem to describe the setting where the song takes place. However, the context of the poem will only be clear once the movie is out.
On Tuesday, Dhanush announced the news of the third song releasing on social media.

The action- entertainer is directed by Mari Selvaraj, who rose to fame with his 2018 Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal. Karnan
The makers of Karnan have released two singles from the movie so far, ‘Kandaa Vara Sollunga’ and ‘Pandarathi Puranam’. Both the singles instantly became viral and were well- received by the audience.
Karnan is reportedly based on a real-life incident that took place in an estate near Tirunelveli. Apart from Dhanush and Rajisha in the lead, the film also features actors Natarajan, Lal Paul, Yogi Babu, Gouri G Kishan and Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli in supporting roles.
The music is set to tune by composer Santhosh Narayan, who has collaborated with Dhanush for films such as Kodi, Vada Chennai and Jagame Thandhiram,
Dhanush has several projects in the pipeline. He will be seen in Karthik Subbaraj’s Jagame Thandhiram, sharing the screen with Aishwarya Lekshmi. He will also be playing the lead role in Aanand L Rai’s Bollywood film Atrangi Re. Apart from Dhanush, Sara Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar will also play the lead roles in the movie. Dhanush is currently shooting for the Hollywood thriller The Gray Man, and has also teamed up with his brother Selvaraghavan for Naan
