The official trailer for Sivakarthikeyan-Nayanthara starrer Mr Local was released on Sunday morning. The trailer that promises a comedy entertainer has the two locking horns during its 2-minute duration.

Written and directed by Rajesh M, the film’s cast includes Radikaa Sarathkumar, Thambi Ramaiya, Sathish, Yogi Babu, Robo Shankar and Harija. Nayanthara plays Keerthana, the CEO of an entertainment company. Sivakarthikeyan plays Manohar, a character loved by everyone, as the trailer tells us.

While the two share animosity, we also see them dancing together in what will be a song sequence in the film.

The trailer has its funny moments with Sivakarthikeyan referring to Nayanthara’s character from Kolamavu Kokila, mimicking Vadivelu’s famous mannerism from Sura and being interrupted once again while calling out Keerthana’s name as we saw in the teaser. The film is most likely to hit the screens this summer.

With music by HipHop Tamizha, the film’s cinematography has been done by Dinesh Krishnan B and editing by Vivek Harshan. The film’s stunts have been choreographed by Anbariv and songs by Dineshkumar. Mr Local has been produced by K E Gnanavel Raja’s Studio Green company.

Soon after the teaser, a few have pointed out the similarities between Keerthana and Vasundhara, Bollywood actor Kajol’s character in Soundarya Rajinikanth’s film VIP 2. Kajol plays the role of a chairperson of a construction company in the film. References can also be drawn to Vijay Shanthi’s character in Rajinikanth’s Mannan where her character was shown playing the company CEO who later marries Rajinikanth only to be shown her place.

However, one hopes Tamil cinema has progressed from its ‘taming of the shrew’ days and Mr Local has a better storyline.
