Keerthy Suresh, who has mostly been relegated to playing "love interest" roles for top heroes, emerged as a force to reckon with after Mahanati. And now, after her National Award win, the teaser of her 20th film which is tentatively titled ‘Keerthy20’ (in the trend of how male star films are titled) was released on Monday. The movie has been titled Miss India and promises to show Keerthy in multiple avatars.
The 52-second teaser starts off with ‘In 2018, you saw her as ‘Mahanati’, in 2019…’ and the camera slowly brings Keerthy’s face, shimmering in the glow of lamps, on to the screen. The scene swiftly shifts to a stylish Keerthy walking on the streets of Europe and cycling in a park, with a mix of assertiveness and free-spirited nature. The teaser ends with ‘Miss India' stamped on the screen, with Keerthy sipping beverage out of a mug, staring into the horizon while standing on a terrace. The background score elevates the feel of the teaser, matching it to the confidence Keerthy exudes.
The movie began shooting in February this year in Hyderabad and the crew flew to Europe for a 45-day schedule. A heroine-centric movie, Miss India will be the next movie in which Keerthy plays the title role after Mahanati, which earned her a National Award for the Best Actress.
Veteran actor Nadhiya and Naresh play Keerthy’s parents in the movie while Kamal Kamaraju and Bhanushree have been roped in to play siblings. Actor Rajendra Prasad will be seen as her grandfather in the movie.
Miss India is a bilingual film and is produced by Mahesh S Koneru under the East Coast Productions banner. The movie is directed by Narendranath while the music for the film has been composed by S Thaman, as revealed in the teaser. Danny, of Nadigaiyar Thilagam fame, will handle the cinematography for Miss India.
