The makers of NGK – Nandha Gopala Krishnan have released the first single ‘Thandalkaaran’ from the movie, crooned by K.G. Ranjith and the lyrics penned by Kabilan. After Thaana Serntha Kootam, Suriya will next be seen playing a leader in Selvaraghavan’s NGK. Touted to be a political thriller, the film has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Yuvan and Selvaraghavan is a success combo and the two coming together has aroused curiosity.
The film was slated to hit the screens last Diwali along with Vijay’s Sarkar. However, the film had to miss Diwali release after Selvaraghavan fell ill and the shoot had to be stalled for a couple of weeks. Now the film is all set to hit screens on May 31.The combination of Suriya and Selvaraghavan has already set the anticipation high and audiences are eagerly looking forward to the film. In an interview last year, he revealed that he had plans to work with Suriya soon after Kadhal Kondein, and the dream has been finally fulfilled after a decade.
Being produced by S. R. Prakashbabu & S. R. Prabhu under the banner Dream Warrior Pictures, the film has been made on a lavish budget. The film has cinematography by Sivakumar Vijayan with Praveen KL in charge of the editing.
The film, which was officially launched in February 2018, also stars Sai Pallavi as the leading female actor. Despite rumours doing the rounds that the film could be a revived version of Selvaraghavan’s Kaan, which was launched in 2016 and dropped, sources close to the makers have rubbished the reports and clarified that the team is working on a fresh subject.
Meanwhile, Suriya is currently busy with KV Anand's Kaappan which is on the verge of wrapping up. The movie is touted to be an action-thriller co-starring Malayalam superstar Mohanlal. Mohanlal plays the Indian Prime Minister, while Arya plays his son. The film has been scripted jointly by director KV Anand and veteran writer Pattukottai Prabhakar and is being bankrolled by A Subashkaran on a huge budget under his banner Lyca Productions.
Suriya's next with director SudhaKongara was launched recently. The shooting of the project, which will be co-produced by Guneet Monga in association with 2D Entertainment, commenced last week in Chennai.
