With the rising temperature in Telangana, it is not only human beings, who are looking for a way to cool down.

A girl living in Sanjeevaiah Nagar in Sircilla town was in for a shock on Tuesday, when she opened her fridge to get some cold water, and found a four-foot long snake inside.

According to NDTV, the girl raised an alarm and a snake-catcher was called for help.

A video which has emerged, shows the snake catcher pulling the reluctant reptile out of the fridge and carrying it away in a sack, even as panicked locals looked on.

While the NDTV report suggests that its a 'King Cobra', activists, who also saw the video, claim that it might be a rat snake.

"There are no king cobras in that area of Telangana. It must have been a harmless, non-venomous snake which might have entered the fridge when it was open,” says Avinash, from Friends of Snakes Society, a Hyderabad based NGO that works to protect the reptiles.

Avinash adds that snakes look for cooler places during summer, as it becomes hard for them to survive if the temperature crosses 38 degree Celsius.

"During summers, snakes usually take shelter in drains or manholes to keep themselves cool. If they stay in a hot place, which is more than 38 degree Celsius, for too long, they might even end up dying. That's why they look for holes or drains where they can take shelter,” he says.

He also says that the snake in Sircilla would have died if it stayed in the fridge for longer.
