Shankar’s 2.0, the sequel to superstar Rajinikanth’s Enthiran, is the eagerly awaited film for the last two years. The film that been in the making for long and has been subjected to several delays. After multiple postponements, the makers recently revealed that the high budget science-fiction film will finally release on November 29.

The makers have now kicked off its promotional campaign. After the release of two singles during the audio launch held in Dubai last year, multiple posters were released. The film’s teaser was launched on September 13.

The Hindi version teaser has crossed over 34 million views and its Tamil version has over 17 million views. The makers have now released a new behind-the-scenes video, an exclusive sneak-peek of its extraordinary VFX shots. 

A sci-fi film, just like its prequel, it will have some gravity defying stunts as well. A total of 25 VFX studios from around the world were involved in the project that required 2150 VFX shots. 1000 VFX artists worked under the supervision of VFX supervisor, V Srinivas Mohan, who also worked on both Baahubali and Enthiran.  

Directed by Shankar, the film has the Oscar-winning music director AR Rahman composing the tunes. 2.0 will mark the return of Rajinikanth as Dr Vaseegaran and Chitti. Starring Akshay Kumar as the antagonist, the film also has Adil Hussain and Sudhanshu Pandey.

More importantly, 2.0 marks the southern debut of Akshay and the makers felt it’d make sense to attach the teaser of 2.0 with his upcoming film Gold to garner maximum attention. In 2.0, Akshay plays a scientist who turns into a bird-man after an experiment goes awry.

Touted to be Asia’s costliest ventures, the film is bankrolled by A Subhaskaran under his banner Lyca Productions. Made on a staggering budget of Rs 500 crore and it has been completely shot in 3D. 

Film has a strong technical crew with Nirav Shah cranking the camera, T Muthuraj taking care of the production design and Anthony editing it. The film has renowned action directors Kenny Bates, Seteve Griffin, Nick Powell from hollywood and Silva from Kollywood. The film will be released in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu along with plans to release it in 12 other languages.
