Nisha Jose, wife of Kottayam MP Jose K Mani, has stated in her recently published memoir that she was harassed by the son of a well-known politician in the state during a train journey.

Speaking about the incident in her book ‘The Other Side of Life’, Nisha said that the duo happened to be traveling in the same train on a short journey, from Kottayam to Thiruvananthapuram. Despite dropping several hints, she however refrained from revealing her alleged harasser’s identity.

Stating that the politician’s son approached her when she was waiting in the station, late at night, to board the train, Nisha claimed that the man introduced himself using his father’s name and revealed that he was traveling to the capital to visit his father-in-law, who was undergoing treatment in a hospital there, a Manorama report quoted.

On boarding the train, Nisha claimed that the man continued to initiate conversation with her. Irritated, she complained to the TTE, who allegedly washed his hands off the situation saying that he did not want to intervene. He also said that since the duo belonged to the “same political front”, he would probably land up in trouble.

Once the alleged harassment continued, Nisha wrote that she asked him to leave firmly and informed her husband when she got home.

When asked why a complaint was not registered immediately after the incident, Nisha, who was addressing mediapersons in the state, said that at the time she felt it was a private matter and she had already confronted her harasser when the incident took place and proved to him that he was wrong.

The memoir also referred to the bar bribery and solar scams, and how it created fissures in the family as they were dragged into the issue.

The book was released by a member of the erstwhile Tranvancore royal family, Aswathi Thirunal Gowri Lakshmi Bai. The event was also attended by Nisha’s father-in-law, veteran politician KM Mani, and husband, Jose K Mani.
