Despite facing criticism from CPI (M) Politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan, veteran CPI (M) leader V S Achuthanandan on Thursdaycampaigned in the Dharmadom constituency, from where the former is contesting the Kerala Assembly elections.

The visit comes in the wake of Pinarayi Vijayan’s latest statement against VS, in which he said that the state secretariat resolution terming VS as an “anti-party activist” still stands valid.

VS arrived at Dharmadom in the morning and inaugurated the poll campaign from Chakkarakkallu.

He started his speech by seeking votes for Pinarayi Vijayan and following this, the leader launched a fierce attack against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and other UDF members.

Taking a dig at the UDF manifesto, which was released on Wednesday, VS said that he felt like laughing after reading the ruling front’s manifesto. Read the UDF manifesto here.

Accusing the UDF government of corruption, Manorama reported the leader as saying,” Except P.K. Jayalakshmi, all the ministers are corrupt. There are about 136 cases filed against the ministers in total and as many as 36 cases are filed against the Chief Minister alone.”

Further, VS expressed his doubts over the UDF’s ability to deliver on the poll promises it has made in its manifesto.

Talking about the LDF manifesto, he reminded the people about how the LDF government has always saved people by containing price rise through an effective public distribution system and adding to this, he highlighted the various promises made in the LDF manifesto. Read the LDF manifesto here.
