Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan, earlier this month, resumed shooting for Vishwaroopam 2, which has been on the back burner for a long time. The team had completed most of the shoot except for a week of shooting which was recommenced in the first week of December.

The latest update is that the film will be released in Dolby Atmos, advanced sound technology. The makers are currently busy with the sound mixing work in Los Angeles. “Vishwaroopam 2 looking great, sounding great. Thanks to all techies who are making it possible. In picture Marty, I, Kunal and Chris. The screen has my later brother’s name as the producer. Would have sent him this picture first had he been around,” Haasan tweeted on Friday.

The long-delayed sequel to Vishwaroopam, in which Haasan acted as the Indian spy, the star cast included Rahul Bose, Andrea Jeremiah and filmmaker Shekhar Kapur in pivotal roles.

Sources from Haasan’s camp have confirmed that the pending work on the project will be finished this month and if everything goes as planned; the film might hit the screens early next year.

It’s only after bringing Vishwaroopam 2 to the screens, Haasan will revive Sabash Naidu, a spin-off based on the popular character from Dasavatharam. The project was stalled last year after Kamal fell from his office stairs and fracturing his leg.

Post Sabash Naidu, Kamal is expected to work on a bilingual film titled Thalaivan Irukkiran. According to a statement released during the launch of Thalaivan Irukkiran in 2015, it was announced that the film will be made in Hindi as well and will be titled Amar Hain. While Haasan will play the antagonist, Saif Ali Khan was supposed to play the main lead. Haasan was supposed to return to Bollywood with this project after 18 years and he had planned to write and direct the project. Talking about his role, Haasan had said in a statement in 2015: “My character though not that of a conventional antagonist, would present a point of view that is far from ordinary.”

Kamal, who recently made his television debut as the host of Tamil reality show Bigg Boss, also has Indian 2 lined up with director Shankar. The project will roll from next year post the release of 2.0.

The pre-production of Indian 2 is rumoured to be made on a budget of Rs. 200 crore.
