Director Vinayan will be directing a sequel to his hit movie Aakashaganga, a horror film that released 20 years ago. The shooting of the new film will go on the floors next month and groundwork for it is on already.

Aakashaganga had Divya Unni, Mayoori, Madhupal and Mukesh in the lead roles. It would be interesting to see who will be making it to the cast for the sequel.

Before that, Vinayan has to finish the work of his film Chalakkudikaran Changathi, which is inspired by the life of late actor Kalabhavan Mani. The director has however made it clear earlier, that Chalakkudikaran Changathi is not a biopic of the actor but is inspired from his life. Vinayan also has a film with Jayasurya in the lead – a historical titled Nangeli.

The director has also recently announced that he would directing a film with Mohanlal in the lead. He wrote a post on Facebook about the film, with a photo of the two of them standing together, surprising many.  Vinayan and Mohanlal had not been on the best of terms but in an interview to TNM, the director said that those were all issue based differences, nothing personal. What changed his mind had been the recent move of Mohanlal becoming the president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA).

“I felt that if he becomes president a lot of positive things can happen. He is a man who enjoys a certain position in Malayalam cinema, a man at the top who does not need to be partial to anyone in particular or harbour any prejudices,” Vinayan said then.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal is expecting the release of Lucifer, which is slated for release this month. It is an important film in the Malayalam film industry as it marks the directorial debut of actor Prithiviraj Sukumaran. The technical crew of the film includes Sujith Vaassudev for cinematography and Samjith for editing while Stephen Devassy will be in charge of the music composition. Veteran writer and actor Murali Gopy has penned the script for Lucifer which is touted to be a political thriller. Lucifer is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner Aashirvad Cinemas.
