Shanavas K Bavakutty who made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed Kismath is now busy with his second film. Titled Thottappan, the film has Vinayakan playing the title role. Incidentally, Thotappan is inspired from the novel of the same name penned by Francis Noronha.

The film’s first look poster was unveiled recently which showed Vinayakan holding a baby aloft. It’s about the child’s life from a 6-month-old to a 21-year-old, how Thottappan brought her up, how he influenced her thoughts, and also her romance with a young man and the conflict it engenders.”

Shanavas’ debut film Kismath made it to the silver screens in 2016 and it was based on a true life incident. It is about a scheduled cast girl and Muslim boy failing in love and the backlash they had to face in the society. In addition to the caste difference, they also need to fight the prejudices against older woman-younger man relationships. She plays a 28-year-old, he plays a 23-year-old. The film has Shane Nigam and Shruthy Menon as the lead pair with actors like Vinay Forrt, Alencier Ley Lopez, Sajitha Madathil, Surabhi Lakshmi, P Balachandran and Sunil Sukhada in supporting roles.
