Actor Vikram, who was last seen playing a cop in Saamy Square, is gearing up for the next schedule of his long-awaited project Mahavir Karna, directed by RS Vimal. Vimal is currently busy scouting locations in Nepal, where the next schedule will begin.

While some rumours were doing the rounds that the project may be shelved, Vimal has quashed the same. In an interaction with TOI, he said, “I don’t know how such news crops up. We have completed a schedule in Hyderabad, and we will decide on the date for the upcoming schedules in a while.”

Reports say that the film will have an ensemble cast from different film industries in India and abroad. While the rest of the cast and crew are yet to be announced, the makers are planning to make an official announcement with a teaser. “We are yet to finalise when we should release the teaser, but movie buffs can expect it soon,” Vimal added.

It may be noted that recently the filmmakers received a rude shock over a casting scam. With reports reaching the Mahavir Karna team that some fraudsters are luring wannabe actors by offering roles in the magnum opus by charging whopping amounts of money, the director filed a police complaint and sent a letter to the Kerala Chief Minister’s grievance cell.

Though the project was announced last year and was scheduled to go on the floors earlier this year, it got delayed as Vikram got busy with his son Dhruv’s debut film, Adithya Varma, which he is keen on getting released this year. Incidentally, the film was shot as Varma by director Bala but the project was scrapped after the entire shooting was wrapped up.

Mahavir Karna is touted to be trilingual to be made in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi on a budget of Rs 300 crore. The film is bankrolled by New York-based production house United Film Kingdom.

Meanwhile, Vikram will next be seen in the thriller Kadaram Kondan, directed by Rajesh M Selva. The film is expected to hit theatres on July 19 while the film’s trailer is planned to be launched on July 3.
